Junior Leadership Class of 2027: Environment Day

What do personality types, raptors, pizza, handshakes, and a boat club have in common? They were all on the agenda for this year’s JrLMC Environmental Day.

We started by looking at how different temperaments influence the way we communicate, collaborate, and approach challenges. Then came the test: could our Junior Leaders build effective teams by intentionally mixing different temperaments? Turns out, there’s more to a good team than putting a group of people together and hoping for the best.

Next, we headed to Chippewa Yacht Club for an up-close experience with raptors and a look at the important work of the Medina Raptor Center. Students learned about the center’s mission to rehabilitate injured and orphaned birds of prey and educate the community about these remarkable animals.

After lunch from Romeo’s Pizza – Medina, it was time to put first impressions—and handshakes—to the test with Huntington Bank.

We finished the day on Chippewa Lake with Chippewa Yacht Club, getting out on the water and seeing firsthand how people and wildlife share the same environment.

A special thank-you to the Medina County Women’s Endowment Fund and the Medina County Community Foundation for helping make our raptor experience possible. Their support allowed our Junior Leaders to get an up-close look at these remarkable birds while learning more about conservation and the work it takes to protect them.
