Signature Class of 1997, The Perfect Class

Skip Sipos, ’97 , has filed petitions to run for Medina City Council’s at-large seat currently held by Paul Rose. Councilman Rose has indicated he will be retiring at the end of the year. Skip is hopeful the voters will find his nearly 32 years of experience at Medina Metropolitan Housing Authority (and 10 years of Community Development work in Cleveland prior to that) worthy of consideration in this fall’s election. Skip will be retiring from the Authority at the end of this year. Election Day is November 4th and includes races for Mayor, Finance Director, and two ward council seats (1 and 3), in addition to the at-large opening. Successful candidates begin their terms on January 1st 2026.

Denise Testa ‘09 is excited to share that The Medina County Fairgrounds Facilities Strategic Plan is moving forward — and community input remains at the heart of the process. As part of the ongoing effort to enhance and improve this vital community space, a public survey has been launched to gather feedback from residents, fairgoers, local organizations, and other stakeholders. Whether you attend the fair every summer, host events on the grounds, or simply care about the future of this community hub, your voice matters. This is your opportunity to share ideas, highlight needs, and help shape a plan that reflects the values and vision of Medina County.

Jenny Young ’26 & LEAD ‘22 shares that three AED Towers Installed at Muhl Park Soccer Fields After Four-Year Effort A simple question from my six-year-old son changed everything: “Mommy, can I die playing soccer?” In 2021, while watching a live soccer match, we saw Christian Eriksen collapse from cardiac arrest. The cameras never cut away. That moment stayed with us. What followed was a four-year effort—partnering with Rachel Rexroad of Learn CPR, coordinating with the City of Wadsworth, and fundraising with small business in Akron, Medina and Wadsworth, to bring life-saving equipment to the fields our children play on every day. Now, three weather-controlled AED towers are installed at Muhl Park Soccer Fields. One tower was mounted and powered in 2024. As of July 16, the remaining two towers are fully connected and ready for emergency use. This project has been long and challenging, but worth every step to help protect our community.

 

As of June 2025, Jenny Young ’26 & LEAD ’22 , is a new Board of Trustees member with Project Learn of Medina County. “This has been a long time coming — I’ve been talking with Jen Brenner about it for years! My passion for access to books, the joy of reading, and a deep belief in human kindness has always made this feel like a dream connection. I’m honored to support the incredible work Project Learn does and can’t wait to be part of the mission to empower through literacy.”
