Junior Leadership Class of 2026:
Agriculture Day

March’s Junior Leadership days took students out of the classroom and into the fields for Agriculture Day, highlighting the unique mix of farming and business that makes Medina County so special. Students got to experience firsthand the diverse agricultural operations that support the local economy and community life.
The day began at Boyert’s Greenhouse and Farm, where students learned about plant care, production techniques, and the business side of running a successful greenhouse. The hands-on experience offered a new perspective on the work, planning, and attention to detail required to keep crops thriving year-round.
Next, students visited Forever Amber Acres, an innovative program that combines agriculture with therapy and enrichment. Here, they met some of the farm’s amazing rescued horses and learned about their role in supporting people through therapeutic programs. The visit provided a unique opportunity to see how agriculture can intersect with health and wellness.
Students then traveled to a local dairy farm to witness modern dairy operations in action. From automated milking systems to electric cow back scratchers, they saw how technology and humane practices support both the well-being of the animals and the efficiency of the farm. Baby calves were also part of the experience, with students being able name one! Farmers emphasized their philosophy that healthy, happy cows produce better milk—a perfect lesson in how care and innovation go hand in hand.
A big thank you to Lorain-Medina Rural Electric Cooperative (LMRE), our bus sponsor, for safely transporting students between locations, and to The Ruhlin Company, our lunch sponsor, for providing delicious meals that kept everyone energized and ready for a full day of learning. Their support helped make Agriculture Day a seamless, memorable experience for all participants.
