Health & Wellness Day: Building Strong Leaders Through Community Care

Health & Wellness Day offered the Leadership Medina County Class of 2025 an opportunity to step back, reflect, and better understand how health systems, services, and leaders work together to support a thriving community.
Throughout the day, participants gained valuable insight into both the challenges and strengths of health and wellness resources across Medina County—and how leadership plays a role at every level.
The day began at Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital with a warm welcome and an overview of health in Medina County. Participants heard firsthand about the realities facing local healthcare providers and residents, setting the stage for meaningful conversations around access, prevention, and community impact. A hands-on Stop the Bleed training followed, equipping class members with practical, lifesaving skills they can carry with them well beyond the classroom.
As the day continued, the class learned about the vital work being done by the Free Clinic of Medina County and Alternative Paths, two organizations addressing critical needs through compassion, innovation, and community partnership. These sessions highlighted the importance of meeting people where they are and providing support that strengthens individuals and families alike.
In the afternoon, the class traveled to the Medina County Health Department, where participants explored public health services, learned about Living Well Medina County initiatives, and took part in Narcan training. A tour of the facility further reinforced the scope and impact of public health work happening locally. The day concluded at Hospice of Western Reserve Medina County, where class members gained insight into end-of-life care, toured the facility, and reflected on the role of dignity, empathy, and leadership during life’s most challenging moments.
A heartfelt thank-you goes to our generous sponsors who helped make the day possible. We are grateful to Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital for sponsoring breakfast, Rea Business Advisors for lunch, and Hospice of Western Reserve for providing an afternoon snack. Their support ensured participants were fueled for a full day of learning, connection, and conversation.
While Health & Wellness Day was filled with important topics and thoughtful dialogue, it was also filled with laughter, shared experiences, and strong connections. No matter the location—conference rooms, tours, or travel between stops—this class continues to bring curiosity, energy, and genuine joy to every experience. Their ability to balance meaningful learning with authentic relationship-building is a true reflection of what leadership looks like in action.
Health & Wellness Day served as a reminder that strong leaders are deeply connected to the well-being of their communities—and that learning is always better when it’s done together.
