Signature Class of '26: State Government Day Recap

This month, the Signature Class '26 and 21 Junior Leaders traveled to Columbus for an impactful State Government Day—an immersive experience filled with learning, meaningful dialogue, and firsthand exposure to state government in action.


The day began at the Supreme Court of Ohio, where we heard from:

Caleb Parker and Derek Hale (Signature alumni and current LMC committee members for State Government Day)

Darnita Bradley, Sr. Manager, Local Government Affairs & External Engagement, JobsOhio

Jonathan Gormley, Office of the Ohio Secretary of State, representing Ohio Auditor Keith Faber


Chief Justice Sharon L. Kennedy of the Supreme Court of Ohio also shared insights on her role and the importance of civic responsibility. Following the presentations, students toured the Supreme Court building before continuing to lunch at The Westin Columbus, where they heard from State Representative Melanie Miller for the 67th district of Ohio.


The afternoon concluded at the Ohio Statehouse, hearing from:

Reggie Hayes, Senior Legislative Aide to State Senator Mark Romanchuk


The day concluded with a guided tour of the Statehouse.
