Here to There
By Susan Vlcek, Junior Leadership Director
Blink your eyes and find yourself at the Closing Retreat for the JrLMC Class of 2017. What of value could have possibly transpired in the scintilla of time since we met at the Opening Retreat?
JrLMC Class of 2016 alumnus Devon Matson reflected back on both her JrLMC experience and all that has come in the year following it. “I am not the same person I was at the start of my junior year. I hold leadership positions now, and I hold them with authority. Being a leader is about more than holding a position of power; it is about setting an example.”
Fellow intern and JrLMC Class of 2016 alumnus Maia Virgei added, “I realized that everyone achieves their goals in different ways. There are no set steps you have to take to get there.”
LMC Class of 2013 alumnus Seth Kujat passionately pointed these leaders to fulfill their calling: “The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones that do.”
The journey continues. As Devon said, “This may be the end of your time in Jr. Leadership, but it is not the end of your journey. These experiences will stay with you, influence your actions and shape your future.”
