Educating Leaders, Encouraging Service for Medina County
Mission
Leadership Medina County (LMC) is a nonprofit, civic education and leadership development organization whose mission is to build talented, responsible, dynamic leaders to serve our community. We believe that community leaders can be developed, that leadership is a lifelong endeavor and strong leadership is vital to a strong Medina County.
Guidelines
We accomplish our mission by:
-
Bringing together current and emerging leaders representing a broad cross-section of the community;
-
Educating them about the opportunities, challenges, and resources available in our county and our region;
-
Involving them for positive change in our communities;
-
Connecting a network of community leaders as resources for resolving issues, developing initiatives and improving the quality of life in Medina County.
Steps
The first step is to become part of the next adult leadership class. Forty individuals are selected in June to participate in a class, meeting one day a month, September through May. The days provide a variety of unique hands-on experiences, interesting site visits, opportunities for discussions with key leaders and class members, and insights into leadership competencies.
Each class also completes a service project. Class projects are selected from proposals presented by nonprofit organizations in Medina County. They can not be fund raisers, involve grant writing, or be proposed from sports or religous organizations.
Benefits
-
The community gains educated individuals with commitment, leadership skills, resources, and the "know how" to serve,
-
The employer gains an employee with skills for organizational effectiveness, connections in the county and a reputation as a good corporate citizen.
-
The participant gains a better understanding of county issues, creative ways of problem solving, improved leadership skills, and a large network of friends and colleagues as resources.
