Rita Luebke, Community Volunteer, has been elected to serve on the Alumnae Board of Trustees of Ursuline College/St. John’s College for a 2 year term, commencing August 1, with the new Academic Year. Her position on the board will be the promotion of Alumnae membership activities with those of newly-graduated students, such as mentoring, fundraising activities, College fairs, and serve as an Ambassador of the College to area communities.

Jeffrey Kolodziej, Cornerstone Chapel, is celebrating its 25th Anniversary. Their first service was held on May 19, 1985 in the Medina High School with 17 people. The church was pioneered by Jeff and his wife, Mary Jane. Over the years Pastor Kolodziej has developed an intern program, a Bible Institute, and several church plants including one in Thailand.

Stacy Bonitz, The Philpott Rubber Company, received a Community Spirit Award at the United Way Annual Meeting on May 26. Stacy was recognized for her service to United Way of Medina County for seven years with her financial expertise as their CPA Consultant.
Theresa Laffey, Medina County District Library, was recognized as a Spotlight Volunteer by United Way of Medina County for her dedication and selfless support.

Carla Smith, Alternative Paths, her husband Chris, and daughter, Abigail Providence, 1, are pleased to announce the birth of baby boy, Samuel Michael on May 17.

Sharon Centner, Community Volunteer, has been named the Ohio Schools Resource Officer of the Year by the Ohio Schools Resource Officers Association of 900 members. The award will be presented at their annual meeting at the end of June.
Michael Kovack, Medina County Auditor, was recently appointed to serve as chairperson of the 2010 Property Tax and Valuation Issues Committee of the County Auditor’s Association of Ohio. Mike also, has recently been appointed as the detachment commander for western Pennsylvania for the United States Selective Service System. He will oversee 170 personnel serving throughout the region.
Bethany Dentler, Medina County Economic Development Corporation, in additional to her position as Executive Director, where she works with businesses to create new job opportunities in Medina County, was also recognized as a Women of Distinction recipient for her service on the boards of God’s Bible School & College in Cincinnati and the Medina Salvation Army.
