JrLMC Select Class Project

Founder of Let’s Make A Difference, an organization which serves and advocates for disadvantaged youth in the Medina community, Michelle spoke passionately about the need for each of us to recognize our strengths and then use them to effect change in our world.

Apparently her message was heard.
On the first Saturday in March this year’s Jr. Leadership class met at Rustic Hills for their closing retreat. The primary objective of the day is for the group to formulate their class project. Four groups were formed, and each was charged with creating a proposal and marketing it to the remaining groups.
|
|
For the first time, two of the four groups chose to focus on the same organization: Let’s Make A Difference. Ideas of both proposals were then incorporated, as well as some of the ingredients of a third proposal. The exercise was truly a primer in creative thinking and collaboration.

The class has now created a group Facebook page and will continue to develop and carry out their project, Making A Difference. Among the proposed goals are the intention to connect with local entities to share the mission and vision of Michelle’s organization, challenge others to partner in some way to build up the community’s young people, and collect donations of books, art supplies, and snack items for Let’s Make A Difference participants. A collection box will also be placed at the registration table for the class graduation on April 15.

Thanks to Michelle for being the face of leadership to this year’s class, and for sharing her contagious passion and energy. And thanks to all of our emerging leaders for accepting the challenges that come from being your best for the world, and inspiring us to do the same.
