’94  The Finest

Sandy Calvert, HANDS Foundation, and husband Chuck welcomed new granddaughter Emma, on August 28.

 

’96  The Brightest

Buck Adams, Medina County Emergency Management Agency, will be retiring after 21 years of service.  He has helped to increase public safety and awareness by building strong relationships with a variety of key entities county-wide.   And many projects such as the Mobile Command Vehicle, HazMat and All Hazard Teams were accomplished under his leadership.

 

’99  The Dynamic

Jim Doutt, EBO Group, Inc. EBO Group, Inc. For the second time EBO Group, Inc., an employee-owned company, won the prestigious NorthCoast 99 Award developed by the Employers Resource Council.  EBO was acknowledged as one of the top 99 great places to work and for recruiting and retaining top talent in Northeast Ohio.

 

’00  The Spirited

Tom Miller, Medina County Sheriff’s Department, has been selected as the department’s new chief deputy.   Tom, a former Brunswick councilman, previously worked for the Sheriff’s Department for 15 years before accepting the position of Director of Protective Services at Cleveland’s MetroHealth Medical Center.

 

’01  The Synergetic

Nisi Pozderac, Transitional Living Centers, Inc., has accepted an offer to serve on the board of the Bluecoats of Medina County.

 

’02  The Enlightened

Carole Kowell, Medina County District Library, along with Tina Sabol ’05, is spreading the word about the Friends fundraiser, “Puttin’ on the Ritz” on Friday, October 14, at the Medina Library.  All proceeds go towards the 2012 Summer Reading Celebration and the 7,000+ youth who benefit from the library’s reading game every summer.

 

’05  The Ultimate

Gary Berkowitz, Cuyahoga Community College, has been elected to serve on the board of directors for Alternative Paths.

 

Christina Fozio, Medina County Emergency Management Agency, has been named the new Medina County EMA Director and plans for the county’s emergency situations. She has been the deputy director for 11 years and will assume the role of retiring director Buck Adams,’96,

 

’06  The Enterprising

Vicki Sussman, Sussman & Associates, Inc., was inducted into her high school, Ashtabula/Harbor/Lakeside High School Alumni Hall of Fame on September 2. She was recognized as an “alumni of achievement” and a successful member of society with outstanding contributions to the community.

 

Stacy Bonitz, The Philpott Rubber Company, and husband Rich,’11, have been selected as one of the recipients of the 2011 Community Service Awards sponsored by Medina Hospital for “positively impacting and enriching the lives of numerous children and families in need in our community” through the Trinity Rose Foundation.

Ryan Rose, Dorman Farrell, LLC, earned his CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) designation effective September 1.  He also became a board member of Medina City Schools Foundation in August.  Ryan and Mia North,’11 will be married on October 1.

 

’08  That Class

Michelle Kirda, Belfor Property Restoration, has been asked to serve on the Board of Directors for a second term with the Northeast Ohio Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management.

 

’09 A Class Act

Jay Dettorre, Western Reserve Masonic Community, this organization has made the Northeast Ohio Top Workplaces 2011 list based on employee nominations compiled by Workplace Dynamics.

 

Mike Kovack, Medina County Auditor, is a nominee in Crain’s Cleveland Business 2011 CFO of the Year.  This award is designed to recognize the unique contributions and accomplishments of CFOs.  Nominees are being recognized as Greater Cleveland’s top financial professionals for their strategic vision and outstanding fiscal leadership of our business, government and non-profit communities.

 

Steve Magovac, SSG Financial Services, the company has made the Northeast Ohio Top Workplaces 2011 list based on employee nominations compiled by Workplace Dynamics.

 

Cheryl Mason, Medina County Job & Family Services, has been selected as one of the recipients of the 2011 Community Service Awards sponsored by Medina Hospital for “meeting the growing need for services in Medina County including monthly direct food distributions to low-income, the disabled and the elderly.”

 

’11 The Emerald Class

Rev. Shannon Blower, Church at Stony Hill, has joined the Ethics Committee at Medina Hospital.

 

Mia North, Westfield Bank, and Ryan Rose,’07 will be married on October 1.
