'92 The Charter
Katie Horn, City of Medina, will be retiring as Clerk of Council after 32 years of service.   She was honored at a celebration on October 27 at Medina Country Club for her many accomplishments, dedicated years of service and of course many friendships.
 
Rob Rapp, Homestead Insurance Agency, is one of three finalists for the 2010 Medina County Business Award. The event to announce the “Individual Corporate Citizen” of the year will take place October 28.
 
’93 The Best
Barbara Dzur, Gerspacher Real Estate Group, Inc., was selected as the Corporate Citizen of the Year-Individual by the Medina County Economic Development Corporation and Westfield Bank's 2010 Medina County Business Awards.  The winners were announced and awards were handed out during their Twelfth Annual Autumn Speakers Series held at the Blair Center on October 28.
 
’94 The Finest
Sandy Calvert, HANDS Foundation, was the October speaker for the Medina County Notable Women’s Luncheon Series and spoke on her "Journey in Politics." Sandy was also asked by Zonta International to conduct a session on Fundraising for their national conference held at the Firestone Country Club in October.

'99 The Dynamic
Mark Dolan,
Sandridge Food Corporation, won a 2010 Medina County Business Award in the category of Sustainability-Environmental Improvement sponsored by Medina County Economic Development Corporation and Westfield Bank.  The winners were announced and awards were handed out during their Twelfth Annual Autumn Speakers Series held at the Blair Center on October 28.
 
 
’00 The Spirited
Ed McKeon, Western Reserve Bank was recently elected to serve on the Board of Directors at Alternative Paths, Inc.
 
’04 The Exceptional
Karen Troxell, Armstrong, was recently elected to serve on the Board of Directors at Alternative Paths, Inc.
 
’05 The Ultimate
Chad Wilson, Chad Allan Technology, LLC, has announced the launch of his new ecommerce company called Rapid Marketplace (www.RapidMarketplace.com). It is a turnkey ecommerce solution that is designed to guide and support small to mid-sized businesses through the process of selling their products online. Rapid Marketplace is the result of more than a decade in business, developing software solutions for a wide variety of clients. It was designed and priced specifically with smaller to mid-sized businesses in mind. Chad stated, “We designed Rapid Marketplace to fill an unmet need."
 
’06 The Enterprising
Stacy Bonitz, The Philpott Rubber Company, Trinity Rose Foundation, is proud to announce that the Trinity Rose Foundation Golf Outing, held in September, helped raise $19,000 for childhood blindness.  Along with a $6,000 medical research grant, $10,000 was awarded that evening to two families – a Medina family whose eight year old daughter was recently diagnosed with Stargardt’s disease and a Sheffield Lake family whose three year old daughter and nine month old son are both battling Ocular cancer with their specialists in New York. For more information about the foundation, visit www.trinityrose.org.
 
’08 That Class
Michelle Kirda, Belfor Property Restoration, was recently elected to serve on the Board of IREM (Institute of Real Estate Management) starting in 2011.

'09 A Class Act

Linda Garrett, A Room With A View Studio, LLC, was one of 17 designers chosen to work on the window treatments for the Cleveland episode of the ABC show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.  Each episode features a family in need of a new house.  While the family is away,  a team of designers, builders and hundreds of volunteers raze the old house and build a new one, all in one week.  The show will be featured sometime in December.

Whited Physical Therapy Services, won one of the 2010 Medina County Business Awards in the category of Small Business Enterprise sponsored by Medina County Economic Development Corporation and Westfield Bank.  The winners were announced and awards were handed out during their Twelfth Annual Autumn Speakers Series held at the Blair Center on October 28.


'10 The Social Class
Rob Stall,
Medina Hospital, a Cleveland Clinic hospital, won one of the 2010 Medina County Business Awards in the category of Capital Investment sponsored by Medina County Economic Development Corporation and Westfield Bank.  The winners were announced and awards were handed out during their Twelfth Annual Autumn Speakers Series held at the Blair Center on October 28.

Paula Canterbury,
 Central Intermediate School of Wadsworth City Schools, is a finalist for the State's Ohio Schools to Watch.  CIS is one of only four schools in the state chosen in this category.
 
Steve Viny, Envision Holdings, was awarded the 2010 Innovator of the Year Award by the Solid Waste Association of North America, Buckeye Chapter (SWANA) for pioneering MiniRRF technology along with the creation of Engineered Fuel. Both innovations will reduce landfill volume with a potential reduction approaching 90% in the future.
 
Matt Marquard, MC Real Estate Company, was recently elected as a Director of the Medina County Board of Realtors for 2011.

Dave Mueller, RICO Manufacturing, this company was a finalist in two categories of the 2010 Medina County Business Awards sponsored by Medina County Economic Development Corporation and Westfield Bank.  Categories were the Entrepreneur of the Year and Sustainability-Environmental Improvement.   The company was selected as one of 21 finalists out of a pool of 126 applications. The finalists were announced during their Twelfth Annual Autumn Speakers Series held at the Blair Center on October 28.
 
Tom Krueger, City of Medina, announced that the City of Medina has been selected as a finalist for the Ohio Economic Development Association’s Awards in the category of Excellence in Economic Development Marketing, Small Towns. This is the first time the city has been selected as a finalist for the awards.
