The Medina Health Ministry (MHM), a volunteer organization, provides free health care to working Medina County residents who are employed without medical insurance including Medicaid or Medicare or any government medical care, and earn less that 200% of the poverty level guidelines.

This organization was founded by Dr. Kim Bowen, an emergency room doctor who, many years ago, recognized the need to provide free care for those who did not qualify for any government assistance, yet could not afford proper health care. “It helps people through a rough part of their lives without sacrificing their pride and self-respect.”

This clinic is staffed by approximately 10 doctor volunteers from various specialties and presently provides services for 320 patients. The case load has increased to as high as 800 patients in past years. If the available doctors are not able to provide the needed specialized care that is required by the patient, they will find a doctor that will.

Volunteers are a crucial part of the Medina Health Ministry. None of the day-to-day operations could be accomplished without the help of hundreds of dedicated volunteers. While their specific needs are constantly changing, MHM is always looking for energetic individuals with a desire to help others. It is this type of organization that truly strengthens the community. And this is a community organization, not affiliated with any one hospital. Though space is rented at Medina Hospital, services are provided through all area hospitals.
