’93 The Best
Barbara Gunkelman- Medina Co Education Service Center, was honored with the 2010 Carl W. Breyley Distinguished Service Award for her outstanding work as an Education Specialist for the Buckeye Local School District. She worked collaboratively with administrators, the teacher’s union and specific staff members on “Race to the Top” initiative. Barbara also has taken the lead for the district’s academic initiative of “Align, Assess, Achieve.” She was recognized for this award by Superintendent Dennis Honkala.

Denise “Nisi” Pozderac, Transitional Living Centers, Inc., received the Person of the Year Award from the Valley City Chamber of Commerce in January at the President’s Ball.
Craig Hassinger, Seibert Keck Insurance, is serving as president of the Wadsworth Chamber of Commerce.

Keith Cox, idgroup Consulting & Creative, has become the Managing Director of idgroup’s new Cleveland Office in the Superior Building in the heart of downtown. idgroup is a management consulting firm that specializes in whole systems branding which combines the best practices of organization development, sustainability and marketing to align an organization’s identity, image and culture.

’03 The Futurist
Don Chicatelli, MTD Products Inc., has been working on Robotics Education for kids in grades 4 through 8 for the past five years. This has expanded to a partnership between MTD, the Medina County Schools ESC, and the Medina County University Center. On March 26, there will be a Robofest competition at the University Center so watch-out for kids having a bunch of fun and learning a lot too. Keith Hughes, Dyer, Hughes, Roche & Wilson, Inc. CPA, is now serving as Treasurer of the Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce.

Diana Riley, RPM International Inc., recently retired form the Dress For Success Cleveland Board after 8 years of service and has now joined the Greater Cleveland Neighborhood Centers Association Board.
Lynn Rieg, Medina Hospital/Cleveland Clincic, has accepted a new position within the Cleveland Clinic Rehabilitation and Sports Therapy department as Outpatient Regional Manager. She will still work with the Medina Hospital Rehab department as well as the Rehab staffs in Middleburg Heights, Strongsville, Brunswick and Wooster.

Robin Louis, Medina Hospital/Cleveland Clinic, has been promoted to Regional Marketing Manager for Cleveland Clinic. She will be responsible for the activities for the southwest market which includes Medina and Marymount hospitals as well as the Broadview Heights Medical Center and the Brunswick, Independence, Strongsville and Wooster Family Health Centers.
Johanna Perrino, WCTV, is serving as secretary of the Wadsworth Chamber of Commerce.

Kurt Kappa, Westfield Bank, has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Market Leader at the bank.
’08 That Class
Thomas Sigel, T Sigel Consulting/Sigel Press, was recognized by the Medina County Arts Council at their Awards Dinner for his work with helping Main Street Medina to establish The World Tour of Music concert series and for his efforts to create arts excursions via bus trips to various sites in northeast Ohio.
’10 The Social Class
Gary Wright, Baird Wealth Management, is currently an instructor for Managing Retirement Income at Midpoint Campus and will be instructing an Investing 101 class at MCUC beginning in March. Gary recently earned his Qualified Plan Financial Consultant designation through the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries, making him one of nine to earn the elite credential in the state of Ohio.
Mike Kovack, Medina County Auditor, was chosen by the County Auditors Association to serve as their president, leading the association’s 88 county auditors.
Rob Stall, Medina Hospital/Cleveland Clinic, is now a Major General in the United States Army Reserve receiving his second star in a ceremony February 5. He is the commanding general of the 108th Training Command and has been a soldier for over 30 years. Longer than his 27 year career with the Cleveland Clinic.
