An Intern Tool Kit, How To Make Internships Work For You.

The Alumni Education Committee will present an instructive seminar on Thursday, November 11 at Medina County University Center, 6300 Technology Lane, Medina detailing the development of an internship program.

Register to attend and discover the answers to the following questions:
- How do companies use interns?
- How do I find interns?
- How are they compensated?
- What are the benefits for the company and the intern?
- What is the difference between an internship and a co-op?

The panel includes Sherri Hrusovcki, Assistant Director, Internships/Co-ops, Center for Career Management at The University of Akron; Donald Chicatelli, Process Engineer, Assemblies Tooling & Process Development Group, MTD Products Inc. and former interns from Medina County Juvenile Detention Center and MTD Products Inc. The panel will discuss all aspects of internship programs with a question, answer session following.

The panel discussion will focus on paid versus unpaid internships, types of businesses that could utilize interns and the pros and cons for both the intern and the employer. This is an opportunity to look at the issue from many different prospectives and learn about the new state funding programs and guidelines.
|
The event will begin with a continental breakfast at 7:30 a.m., panel presentation from 8:00 to 9:00 followed by a question and answer period. The cost is $15.00 per person. An Employer’s Guide to Cooperative Education & Internships from the University of Akron will be available to all attendees.
