Cheryl, an eligibility service administrator for Medina Co Job & Family Services, is being recognized by Medina Hosptial for innovative and creative ways to maximize program dollars for her clients—those low income families, the elderly, aged, blind and disabled of Medina County.

Through reorganization, setting up an internet call center, and instituting a data management system Cheryl Mason has been able to help meet hunger needs of county residents despite cuts to the supplemental nutrition assistance (SNAP) program budget. She has also taken a leadership role in developing a direct food distribution process whereby 16,000 lbs of food is distributed at no cost to those in need.

Cheryl has set up and operated the Ohio Directional Card machine at the farmers market so that SNAP recipients can get fresh produce and fruit into their diets. She also works with earned income tax clinics helping low income working families access to funds.

Other nonprofits benefit from her talents include the Medina County Housing network programs, Housing iCat, Operation Homes and the LMC Board of Trustees, where Cheryl was instrumental in bringing the Poverty Simulation to recent classes on Human Services Day. She also co-chaired her class's service project which provided a notebook of resources and special items given to the newly unemployed in Medina County.
The awards will be given at a reception on Tuesday November 1 at Weymouth Country Club beginning at 4:00 pm.
