Who selects the Leadership Medina County class and why?
  • A committee of LMC trustees and alumni select each class based on a thorough review of the applications
  • There are more applications received than the 40 positions open in the class
  • Classes are selected to represent the diversity of the county so that many points of view are expressed
  • Not everyone who applies can be accepted.  They are encouraged to apply the following year
What is the basis of selection?
Each class is carefully selected to represent the diversity in the county.  Therefore attention is paid to:
  • Applicant"s career, background, past activities, interests, community service, gender and geographic location
  • Demonstrated interest in serving the community
  • Demonstrated capacity for some level of leadership through service, professional position, awards, or nominations
  • Thoughtfully written essay question
  • Recommendations from Leadership Medina County alumni
Are there any other considerations?
  • Ability to make the time commitment is required with the support of the applicant's employer. 
  • Both the applicant's and employer's signature are required on the application.
  • See application instructions and schedule; please note applications for the Class of 2011 are closed.
  • The Opening Retreat is mandatory, class dates are provided with the application and two absences are allowed.
